Last time we considered the question of why the USSR fell apart, this time we want to consider an equally interesting episode from the historical and analytical point of view called the Cold War. Many representatives of the younger generation heard about this, and some even witnessed these events and remembers all the tense moments of this conflict. Now many of this concept is used as a common name, in a situation of "evil world", but, nevertheless, today the political aspect of the Cold War is again relevant, but this is a topic for a separate article. Today we will briefly review the Cold War of the period of relations between the USSR and the USA.

    What is Cold War

The Cold War is a time period when there was confrontation between the two superpowers, and how do you understand it was between the USSR and the US.This concept was used because both countries did not wage a war of arms. And all the others, mostly in peaceful ways. It seems that diplomatic relations were maintained between the countries, and sometimes peaks of confrontation subsided, meanwhile a quiet struggle was constantly conducted in all spheres and directions.

The years of the Cold War are counted from 1946 to 1991. The Cold War began at the end of World War II, and the end - at the disintegration of the USSR.The essence of the Cold War was to establish the world domination of one of the countries and defeat the other.

    Causes of the Cold War

After the end of World War II, when both superpowers considered themselves winners in this war, they wanted to build a world market at their discretion. Each of them wanted to dominate the world, while one and the other country had diametrically opposite systems of state government and ideology. Subsequently, such a confrontation will become part of the ideology of the two countries, in the Soviet Union they wanted to destroy America and establish communism around the world, and the US wanted to "save" the world from the USSR.

If we analyze all that has happened, then we can say with confidence that this is an artificial conflict, since any ideology should have its enemy, both the US for the USSR and the USSR for America - were ideal options as an enemy. And Soviet people hated the mythical American enemies, although the Americans themselves were perceived as Americans, they were afraid of the mythical "Russians" who are not sleeping, but they are thinking of conquering and attacking America, although they did not object to the inhabitants of the union. Therefore, we can say with confidence that the Cold War is a conflict of leaders and ideologies, bloated because of their own ambitions.

    Cold War Policy

First of all, both countries tried to enlist the support of other countries in their course. The USA was supported by all countries of Western Europe, when the USSR supported the countries of Asia and Latin America. In fact, during the Cold War, the world was divided into two confrontational camps. And there were only a few neutral countries.

The aggravation of the political situation was mainly caused by the conflicts of the cold war, in particular, only two of them are distinguished: the Berlin and the Caribbean crises. They became the catalyst for the deterioration of the situation, and the world really was on the verge of a nuclear war, which to great happiness was able to prevent and defuse the situation.

The constant race, and in everything, was also part of the Cold War. First and foremost was the arms race, both countries were developing different types of weapons: new military equipment, weapons( in the majority of mass casualties), missiles, espionage equipment, etc. There was also a propaganda race on television and other sources, and a fierce propaganda against the enemy was constantly conducted. The race was not only in the military sphere, but also in science, culture and sport. Each country sought to overtake the other.

Both countries were constantly watching each other, and in both cases, spies and intelligence agents were present.

But, probably, more of a cold war took place on a foreign territory. With the accumulation of the situation, both countries installed long-range missiles in countries neighboring the enemy, for the United States it was Turkey and the countries of Western Europe, when for the USSR these were the countries of Latin America.

    Results of the Cold War

Many people often wonder who won the Cold War. Probably. In the Cold War, America won, because this war ended with the fall of its enemy, and the main reason for the end of the Cold War - the collapse of the USSR, not a fact that is not the work of the US special services.

Speaking of the results, none of the countries( the US and Russia) have learned any useful lessons, except for those that the enemy is not slumbering and always ready.

If there were no cold war, then all the enormous potential of the two countries could be put into peaceful purposes: space exploration, new technologies, etc. It is possible that mobile phones, the Internet, etc.would have appeared 20 years earlier, scientists, instead of developing weapons, would be unraveling the various world riddles, of which a huge number.
