Clerodendron( clerodendrum)
Family verbena. Rod clerodendron. Natural climatic conditions: the tropics of Asia and Africa.
Clerodendron magnificent * Curly lianopodobnoe plant, leaves are opposite, elongated-oval, harsh, inflorescence - panicle( axillary) of 30-40 flowers, small, scarlet, tube with protruding stamens. Blooms in February-October. Clerodendron fragrant( nastomeria) ♦ A small shrub, the leaves are broad-hearted, at the edges - jagged, soft, slightly pubescent;inflorescence - apical flap, terry flowers, bright red or pinkish-white, fragrant. Blooms in June - August. Clerodendron false * Evergreen shrub, leaves on long petioles, round-triangular, slightly pubescent;inflorescence - scute( up to 20 cm in diameter), flowers red, larger( up to 2.5 cm in diameter).Blossoms in March - April. Thompson's Clerodendron( Mrs Thompson) ♦ Liana( curly bushes), leaves ovate or oval, shiny, grooved along veins, bright green;inflorescences of apical or axillary, racemose, contrasting flowers: red corolla and white cup. In all species a fairly pronounced incomplete period of rest, accompanied by the fall of a part of the leaves.
Moisture requirement: abundant watering( during overdrying can discard leaves), in the rest period( usually November-December) moderate.
Temperature mode: for all types( except for the rest period), the temperature should not drop below 16 ° C, for the rest period it is sufficient 10 - 12 ° C.When the cuttings are rooted, the temperature should be higher( not lower than 20 ° C).
Light mode: preferably bright diffused lighting.
The requirement for soil: the optimum ground mixture from a dermis, sheet and humus earth with sand in an equal parity is optimum.
Reproduction: by dividing the bush( shrub forms) and by cuttings( preferably using phytohormones).
Features: requires prischipka and pruning for better branching. Transplanting and dividing the bush should be done carefully: the root system is very sensitive to mechanical damage.
