Planting and transplanting plants
For the cultivation of healthy, well-developed plants, the correct placement of drainage in containers is of great importance. Before planting house plants in ordinary pots on the bottom holes of the pot should put pieces of shards and pour 2 - 3 cm of small pebbles or expanded clay. This will provide a free drain of excess irrigation water.
In pots of large capacity, when filling the drainage, the bottom hole is covered with a shard and a few centimeters of gravel are poured on top of it, crushed peat is placed on top of it, which will not allow the substrate particles to close the drainage holes. Drainage is also done in boxes where vegetable plants will be grown.
The roots of the plants are straightened before planting and their ends are pruned. This accelerates the formation and growth of new roots.
When planting subtropical and fruit crops, it is necessary to reduce the area of evaporation of plants, for which an easy pruning is done, at which no more than x / 3 increments are removed. When planting or transplanting plants, the substrate, when poured into the pot, is brushed with fingers, especially near its walls. In most plants, the root neck should be in the middle of the pot, at the soil level. Planted plants are abundantly watered and for 2 - 2.5 weeks for better survival are installed in a warm, slightly shaded place.
Tomatoes, peppers, aubergines are transplanted in flower pots of 8 -10 liters in 20-25 days after emergence. When transplanting vegetable plants into boxes, the size of the latter in height should be at least 12-16 cm.
Onion plants grown on greenery in indoor conditions are best placed in wooden or plastic boxes. Plant the bulbs in a solid way or placed 1 - 2 cm apart. The bulbs are pressed into the substrate and sprinkled with soil.
With age, the root system, especially in perennial plants, grows so much and fills the pot, that often the roots begin to break through the bottom holes. Due to a lack of nutrients, plants can be diseased and discarded. Such plants require immediate transplantation. It is recommended to do it once in 2 - 3 years, and sometimes more often. It is best to replant plants in early spring, before the beginning of growth. When transplanting pots take 2 to 3 cm more than the previous size. A few hours before transplanting the plant is strongly moisturized. Then the pot is tipped over, while holding the earth clod with a hand. If the plant is not removed, then the pot slightly tap on the edge of the table or window sill. There is a way to free plants from pots by drying them. This method is especially good for citrus fruits and strawberries. In this case, the com, drying out, itself departs from the walls of the pot and after being turned over it is easily removed. Withdraw the com with the plant carefully, remove the top layer of earth with a stick and cut off the dried or rotten roots with a sharp knife. In the case of a strong growth of the roots, part of them( 20 - 3096) must necessarily be cut off and discarded. Cuts should be sprinkled with crushed coal.
It is never possible to transplant plants from small pots to too large ones, because in this case the root system slowly braids the soil and the soil quickly turns sour. If this happens, you should re-transfer.
If the plant has not yet fully mastered the pot volume, but for some reason does not feel well, you can replace the top layer of the substrate. To do this, remove the top layer of the substrate with a small scoop or fork and put a new one in its place. After the transplant, the plant is thoroughly watered and set for 10 to 15 days in a cool place. Every amateur must protect the earth, so the land left from the transplant should be pinched. The figures show the methods of plant transplantation.
