Treatment of arthrosis of the hip joint with the help of gymnastics
Hip arthrosis, usually occurs in people of middle age and older. The end of the word -os indicates the predominance of the non-inflammatory, and degenerative process. Knowing the features of joint behavior with arthrosis will give an opportunity to understand how to treat arthrosis of the hip joint.
The essence and manifestations of the disease
Osteoarthritis or coxarthrosis of the hip joint usually affects one joint, followed by the second. In the normal state, the ends of the bones, lubricated with a special liquid, glide smoothly. When a pathology occurs, the liquid becomes thicker, the destruction of the bone cartilage fibers begins. With arthrosis of the hip joint, symptoms manifest themselves in different ways, depending on the stage of the disease.
- 1st stage. Because of microcracks, the joints at the ends of the bones touch and wear off. Since there are no nerve receptors in the cartilage, the pain appears at high loads, but after rest passes.
- 2nd stage. Uneven load on the joint leads to a flattening of the head of the femur. The cartilage gradually decreases. Since its tissue is not restored, bone tissue develops to compensate for the destruction in the body. Inflammation of the periosteum is manifested by frequent and persistent pain, giving down, to the groin and knee, discomfort in the lower back, the appearance of lameness when walking. It is difficult for the patient to unbend his leg or move her to the side. At this stage, knees often hurt.
- 3rd stage. The healthy articular bag practically disappears. Very severe pain, which almost does not have painkillers. There are practically no movements. At this stage, only surgery helps.
- People who have suffered an inflammatory process, a trauma or suffered congenital hip dislocation in childhood, often develop a deforming arthrosis of the hip joint. Its manifestations are painful joint, which occurs after physical exertion or a long walk. The pain becomes constant, there is lameness, the muscles around the joint weaken, the joint itself loses mobility.
Methods of treatment of coxarthrosis
Not all patients know how to treat arthrosis of the hip joint by a set of measures. They include the following types of treatment:
- taking medications;
- application of medical creams and ointments;
- injection into the joint;
- course of manual therapy;
- procedure of hip joint traction;
- stretching muscles and ligaments;
- therapeutic massage;
- use of medical leeches;
- physiotherapy;
- diet;
- curative gymnastics.
A good result is given by drugs for arthrosis of the hip joint, which include:
- Anti-inflammatory non-steroidal( non-hormonal) drugs, for example, indomethacin, butadione, diclofenac and others. They reduce pain in the hip, groin and in the affected joint. However, giving temporary relief, the disease itself is not treated, besides leading to side effects. If long-term use of these drugs is necessary, it is better to use selective drugs, for example, movalis, which do not give complications.
- Chondroprotectors, feeding cartilage tissue, restore its structure. In the treatment of coxarthrosis of the hip joint, these are the most useful drugs. They are not so much struggling with the symptoms, how much affect the basis of the disease. Chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine are irreplaceable at the onset of the disease, and they have almost no contraindications.
- Muscle relaxants eliminate muscle spasm, often accompanying coxarthrosis. Sirdalud and midocals help improve blood circulation in the affected joint. But muscle relaxants should be used only together with chondroprotectors, as well as hood extraction.
Therapeutic gymnastics
It is impossible to improve the state of health if you do not do medical gymnastics. Systematic exercises for arthrosis of the hip joint strengthen the muscles, "pump" the blood vessels, activate blood flow.
The greatest effect is given by exercises that strengthen the muscles of the diseased leg and ligaments of the affected joint, but without increased flexion and extension.
The usual fast dynamic exercises should be replaced with static ones. For example, lying on his stomach, his leg straightened at the knee, slightly lift up and hold weight for one or two minutes.
Joints do not move, but fatigue appears in the muscles of the leg. This is a static exercise. A gentle dynamic exercise consists of slowly raising the straightened leg by 15-20 cm and slowly lowering it.8-10 slow exercises will also lead to fatigue. This is a useful algorithm of movements.
Soft speed and amplitude of motion do not destroy joints. But energetic legs and active squats accelerate the destruction of joints. Since it is senseless to treat arthrosis of the hip joint without gymnastics, it is very useful to do regular exercises like "dumpty-boltai":
- roll on your stomach, moving your hips slightly;
- lying on his back, turning his legs out and inside;
- sitting, without tension, to reduce and dilute the knees;
- standing on the dais, a sick leg to hang down and shake left-right, down-up.
In most cases of coxarthrosis, the use of a complex of all methods can significantly improve the health status.
