First we will examine the scissors and evaluate their working condition. Perhaps the problem is due to the fact that the knives on the axis are simply weakened. Axes for knives usually serve or a bolt, twisting into one of the knives, or a screw with a nut, or a special rivet. If the bolt and the screw can simply be tightened tight, and the scissors again will be as if just out of the store, then the rivet is worse. It will take a little effort and ingenuity. To rivet the scissors, you need to put them in the open form on the metal anvil and, using a hammer and nail, flatten the rivet plug. Please note that the scissors must be sure to open. Otherwise, after riveting, most likely, the blades will be opened with difficulty or will not open at all.

If the problem is not in the weakened knives, then most likely, the scissors are just blunt. So, they will have to be imprisoned.

Preparing to sharpen the scissors

For sharpening, we need a file or a special bar for sharpening knives. It is best to take a coarse-grained bar, so that after sharpening on the scissor blades small oblique teeth are formed. With such sharpening, the blades do not slip and cut the material perfectly.

Of course, you can sharpen the scissors on an electric grinding machine, but do not take this job if you are new to using this power tool.

Actually, there is nothing in the grinding procedure. It's important to remember some important points.

• Scissors should be sharpened necessarily by movement on themselves, that is from ends to rings.
• You can not break the angle of the factory sharpening, which is usually equal to 60-75 degrees.

So, we proceed directly to sharpening. We take the open scissors and the sharpening tool. Keep the scissors by the rings. The tips of the blades are looking up. How to sharpen the scissors quickly

If you need scissors very urgently and you just need time to repair them and fix them, you can use two quick ways.

• Take a piece of sandpaper and cut the scissors in several places.
• If you have a gypsy needle at your fingertips( it's a sachet - a long and thick needle), then you can use it. We take the needle, put it between the knives, as close to the axis as possible, and slowly close the blades. The needle should move to the ends of the blades.

Just remember that these two methods will create only a short-term effect.

If you closed the scissor blades and found that their ends do not converge, then using the same file, you can saw the stop located under the rings.

Now you can check the sharpness of the sharpening. We take a thin cloth and keep it on weight. We cut the edge of the fabric. If the material does not "stick" between the blades, and the cut is even, you can be congratulated - you did everything right, and your scissors are again ready for work.
