Stencils for wall decoration by own hands: tips of designers
The usual standard wallpaper or painting of walls has long lost its popularity. Now every mistress wants to give the interior something special and original, not like everyone else. In this, the hand-made stencils for decorating walls that can be made according to their taste and preferences will perfectly help.
What are their types?
Stencils for walls for decor of a living room or corridor can be in different designs: monochrome, multicolored, volumetric and reverse stencil.
1) Solid is the simplest kind. Choose one color and put on the stencil on the wall, It turns out that's a silhouette, see the photo.
2) Multicolor stencil. Here everything is somewhat more complicated, since for each color a separate workpiece is made. The main task of the artist is not to get lost in them. But with the right performance turns really nice.
3) Volumetric stencil. Another simple in the execution, is performed by the putty in the basic tone. It looks very unusual due to the velvety surface.
4) Reverse or antitouch. It is called so because of the application of paint. Here, the color of the surface occurs around the stencil, not inside.
Regardless of what kind of workpiece you want to use, there are two options to get it in your use - buy in any construction shop or make yourself. The latter option is much preferable, since in this case you will be able to create a truly unique drawing, which is unlikely to be similar. In addition, the feeling of pride that all this beauty is invented and created with our own hands will not replace anything.
How to draw a stencil correctly?
Several conditions must be met when creating them.
- Do not pile a lot of details, since there is a high probability that the drawing will turn into a kind of graffiti. Maybe for a child it's not bad, but we are already adults.
- Carefully use small items, from a distance they usually look like just stains, and the overall impression of the picture will deteriorate.
- Choose for each room only one type of ornament. Do not combine flowers and geometric shapes, it looks ugly.
- Use more solid lines in the stencil, then the pattern from a distance will be more understandable.
Creating yourself
For the production of stencils, you need a source drawing, you can do it yourself if you have artistic abilities, or find a suitable image on the Internet and print it out.
If the drawing turned out to be very large - we divide it into several sheets, which are simply stapled. Or contact any publisher or advertising agency, where for a nominal fee you will be helped.
Now you need to transfer the drawing to the base of the stencil. Material for its manufacture can be used very different - plain paper, cardboard, film or plastic. The latter will be the best solution, since the drawing is transferred to it easily and quickly. Simply put the plastic( it should be transparent) and circle the outline. If possible, if the drawing allows, complement it with connecting lines, why this is necessary is discussed above. When drawing it is better to attach the future stencil to the picture with paper clips, so that it does not move.
If the stencil is made on a soft paper-based substrate, glue it with self-adhesive film or tape.
After that, we cut out the elements that will be painted along the contour, with a clerical knife. Small parts must necessarily be attached to the main canvas. Also, pay attention to the fact that there are no burrs when cutting.
