Skin and allergic tests - Causes, symptoms and treatment. MF.

It is a question of special diagnostic methods of research for revealing the allergen that caused the disease. A large number of various allergen preparations for carrying out such samples are produced. Among them are preparations from pollen of various herbs, trees and other plants, dandruff and wool of domestic animals, as well as allergens prepared from specially treated home dust. They use preparations from various kinds of fungi( found in soft furniture and other everyday objects of everyday life), from a variety of so-called industrial allergens, as well as food and bacterial allergens.

The sample is carried out as follows: a solution with an allergen either is dripped onto a previously made scratch on the arm, or injected intradermally into the inner surface of the forearm with a syringe. If the hypersensitivity to any allergen is available, then in place of a scratch in 15-20 minutes, redness and swelling occur local manifestations of an allergic reaction. Usually, samples are made with 15-20 allergens at the same time.

Contraindications:

The method of setting skin allergic tests has a number of contraindications. So this method of research can not be assigned to the following groups of patients:

- those who have already had an anaphylactic shock in their history;

- patients with exacerbation of allergic diseases, as well as chronic diseases, including mental and nervous disorders;

- for pregnant and lactating women;

- patients who underwent long-term hormone therapy.

The same method of skin allergoprob is not recommended for older people after the age of 60 years.

When setting skin allergic tests can it be that at least one of them will give a severe allergic reaction?

Of course, with the introduction of allergens with a diagnostic purpose, almost any allergic reaction can develop. Therefore, the setting of skin tests is carried out only by medical personnel in conditions that, if necessary, provide the necessary urgent medical care to the examinee.

I had skin allergic tests using different concentrations of the same allergen. What does this provide for diagnosis?

The study of skin reactions in a number of cases is not limited to the establishment of an allergen, to which the patient has sensitivity. It is often necessary to know the degree of this sensitivity. Therefore, allergic tests are made with allergens of different dilutions. It should be emphasized that recently the state of allergic antibodies is directly studied in the patient's blood.
