Katran
Katran is a plant of the cruciferous family. Its root to taste like a horse-radish.

You should not plant a catran next to the plants from the cabbage family and after them, because it is affected by a cabbage fly, butterfly whiting, cabbage scoop and cruciferous flea. Cultivated by seed sowing in autumn or early spring, but before spring sowing, they must be stratified throughout the winter. Soak the seeds in water at room temperature for a day. Then mix with wet sand( 1 tablespoon of seeds - 3 items of a spoonful of sand) and fall asleep in a box. The box is covered and put in the refrigerator for the whole winter. From time to time check, do not dry the sand. Do not be afraid that a plant planted in autumn can ascend during winter thaws. This will not happen, because the seeds are in a long period of rest.
The plant is cold-resistant. Seeds germinate at a temperature of 3-4 degrees Celsius. Shoots take out frosts to -5. ..- 6 degrees. The soil should be deeply digged from the autumn, for every square meter, a bucket of organic matter should be added, and in the spring - a glass of nitroammonfoska or another fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
Seeding depth 1 cm for spring sowing and 2 cm for autumn. After emergence of plants, the plants are thinned out. Seedlings grow slowly and can be hammered by weeds that grow quickly, so watch for the cleanness of the bed. In the early stage, you need to make the only one in a season of any organic top dressing( for example, weed infusion) with the addition of 1 tbsp.spoons of superphosphate per 10 liters of solution.
In the autumn, do not rush with cleaning. Katran easily tolerates small autumn frosts, and its root crop continues to grow until late autumn.
Root crops are excavated with pitchforks. Part of the root crops can be left to winter in the soil for a second year. Of these, about half will give flowering plants and seeds. And the second half will continue to grow root. In autumn all repetition should be removed. At the cathorn the tall( about 80 cm) stalk, cylindrical root crops, whitish-gray, about 40 cm long.
