The tripartite sequence
Bidens tripartita.
Annual herbaceous plant of the family Compositae. It grows on wet meadows and as a weed near streams, along ditches and swamps.
Description: The stem is thick, 50-80 cm high. Leaves opposite, fused
bases, deep-dividing with lanceolate, serrate-toothed lobes, of which the average is larger. Baskets are single, located at the ends of the stem and branches. Each basket is surrounded by a double wrapper, the outer leaves of which are longer than the basket, radially divergent, green, leaf-shaped, oblong-ovoid, the inner considerably shorter than the outer ones. Flowers tubular, yellow, instead of calyx above the ovary, 2-3 acute-toothed setae rise. With the fading and the formation of fruits, the baskets darken and become brown. Blossoms from the middle of July to September.
Ingredients: essential oil, tanning and bitter substances, ascorbic acid, carotene, flavonoids, pigments, microelements( in particular, manganese).
Cultivation: loves fertile, peat-rich, moist soils. Reproduction is possible by seeds. The sequence is a completely shade-tolerant
plant, therefore the site for its cultivation can be located in a shaded place. In the soil should be applied peat, compost, heavy soil must be "lightened" with sand. Seeds of the row are sown in April in rows, the plants should be placed at a distance of 30-40 cm from each other, since on the fertilized soil the sequence is developed by a powerful lush shrub. In the dry period, the run requires regular watering. Gathering: the grass is picked up at the end of summer, during budding and at the beginning of flowering. The leafy tops of the stem are plucked no longer than 15 cm and large leaves. At a late collection, only the lateral branches are cut, not beginning to bear fruit( without darkened baskets).Dry in the air.
Medicinal properties: the sequence refers to the most ancient folk remedies, the herb of the turn has a diuretic and diaphoretic properties, improves digestion, normalizes the disturbed metabolism. Oil extracts of herbaceous grasses, containing a significant amount of water insoluble but highly soluble in carotene fats, have anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties. In folk medicine, herbs have been used for a long time to treat scrofula, gout, furunculosis, diathesis and other skin diseases.
Application: from the turn make tea, which has a diaphoretic and diuretic effect. Since the herb of the string actively improves the metabolism, it is used for various forms of diathesis, rash, neurodermatitis and seborrheic head skin lesions. For the treatment of skin diseases, the herb of the string is used in the form of a decoction for washing or concentrated additives in the baths( in this case 3 tablespoons of herb are taken into 2 cups of water and boiled for 10 minutes).With external application, compresses and lotion herbs from the herb of the string dry the wound surface and promote faster healing of affected skin areas.
A mixture of herbaceous grass and cranberry leaves is prescribed as a collection that improves the metabolism of furunculosis, eczema. Mix 1 tbsp.l.shredded herb grass and cranberry leaf and poured 2 cups of boiling water, insist for 45-60 minutes, filtered through cheesecloth and take 1/4 cup 3-4 times a day for half an hour before meals. For the treatment of many complex forms of skin diseases, alcoholic extract of the sequence and ointment containing concentrated extract of the sequence, on a lanolin base, is used. Both
preparations have active anti-inflammatory properties.
Grass in the form of infusion is sometimes used as a vitamin remedy for lung diseases, ulcerative processes on the skin and ulcerative colitis.
