Useful and medicinal properties of eggplant yellow
Perennial aquatic plant with a long fleshy rhizome with traces of fallen leaves. Leaves of two kinds: floating on the water surface - heart-shaped, oval, almost leathery, with long petioles, and submerged in water - translucent, wavy at the edges, on short petioles. chink numerous, stigma flat. The fruit is juicy, berry-like, ovate-conical, smooth. Blossoms from June to September.
It grows in various reservoirs - lakes, in flooded areas and in rivers with slowly flowing water.
For medicinal purposes, rhizomes are used that contain the alkaloid nufarin, tannins, a lot of starch, metabrolic acid. Flowers contain a glycoside of cardiac action.
In folk medicine, tincture of roots on vodka is drunk with gastritis, rheumatism, flowers - with uterine bleeding, flowers and leaves are applied to wounds;the leaves are placed on the affected places. Decoction of rhizomes in small doses are used for pulmonary tuberculosis, inflammation of the kidneys and bladder.
