Decoupage of watches with their own hands: master class with step-by-step photos

What do we need to work?

So, we will start a master class on decoupling watches with our own hands, for the creation it is necessary to prepare the following tools and materials:

• abrasive paper;
• round MDF blank, 30 cm in diameter;
• digits for the dial;
• card for decoupage in A3 format;
• special adhesive for the decoupage card;
• bitumen;
• one-stage craquelure;
• acrylic lacquer for parquet;
• primer based on acrylic;

Decoupage style watch can be made on the basis of a wooden board, glass, plastic, cardboard or use a porcelain plate, a palette for drawing.

Let's start decoupage of wall clocks in steps.

Step 1. The surface of the workpiece is slightly processed with abrasive material to prepare for application of soil. The mixture is applied in 2 or 3 layers.

Step 2. We make out the dial. On its surface we place figures, in this case the choice fell on the blanks with golden color, this will give work elegance and tradition. For even placement of digital templates, you can take any other wall clock as a model. After that, glue the numbers with special glue.

Step 3. From the decoupage map it is necessary to choose the most acceptable part and gently tear off the edges. Then, outline the approximate location of the picture on the surface of the clock. An important point is the choice of the area where the hands of the mechanism will be located. Here you need to consider that they are located in the center of the composition and do not violate the integrity of the picture. An example is shown in the photo.

Step 4. The map for decoupage needs to be softened. To do this, leave it in water at room temperature for about 3-4 minutes.

Step 5. Apply a small amount of glue to the ground workpieces, then apply a softened image. On the surface of the picture also apply glue in one layer. To do this, use a brush with a flat synthetic bristle, so as not to damage the illustration. You can use and ready-made watches, decoupage of old watches will also look spectacular.

Step 6. The MDF stock has a sufficiently large diameter. Since the pasted image occupies only the central part of it, you can supplement the free space with a drawing. For this we use acrylic paints. Our choice will stop on the colors of lavender, sage and forest shade. Cover the surface of the dial with paint, apply alternately each color spots.

Step 7. After the painted places have dried up, it's time to apply craquelure. We use a brush for this and distribute the substance evenly on the surface with a thin layer. Check whether the treated area has dried, you can touch it with your finger, there should not be any stickiness.

Step 8. Next, you need to draw the missing fragments of the image, for this we will use acrylic paints. This time we take the colors: burnt umber, white, dark kraplak, red, English red and light yellow. We mix them for full correspondence with the shades on the original picture.

While applying the paint its action has already begun craquelure, the top layer of the painted areas began cracking. This will give the work an element of antiquity.

Step 9. Now after the complete drying of the surface, let's select dark and bright places, we'll do it with a dry brush. With this technique, you can also achieve blurring of the edges, which is very appropriate in this case.

Step 10. The main drawing is ready. Now you can add a little greenery to the plot of the French street. The walls of the buildings are very harmoniously complemented by curling ivy, and the facade of the restaurant is decorated with a potted plant. Add such elements to the composition will not be very difficult. First you need to choose three shades of green: dark green, warm greenish color and bright green. Dark color will be the basis, mark with light smears the place where the green will be located.

Then use a warm green tint and the same technique. And, finally, we highlight the lighter parts with a bright shade with individual strokes.

Actually, the master class watch in the technique of decoupage is almost finished.

Step 11. To fix the applied paints, it is necessary to process the clock with bitumen. To do this, you need a sponge, with its help we apply a thin layer of coating. Dry work will be 2-3 days.

Step 12. Add a sign to the front of the house, here is a piece of cardboard or leatherette. We glue it to the dial with transparent glue.

Now you can add text, because the home clock uses the inscription "Home".We apply a contour paste for this.

Step 13. Finally, the surface of the digits is treated with an oxidizer. First we apply the silver paint, then the oxidizer No. 711, then the parquet lacquer. As a result, we get a very beautiful silvery-turquoise hue. With this varnish we open the whole surface of the watch.

That's it, the kitchen clock is ready.
