With the help of vaccinations, you can get unusual trees, for example, apple trees that have a powerful and winter-hardy root system, but with a weakly aerial part, early entering into fruiting. For this purpose, it is necessary to plant on a permanent place any vigorous apple tree root( seedlings of Antonovka, Grushovki of Moscow or wild apple tree) or sow the seeds of these apple trees. Then, in a one- or two-year-old pre-production plant, by any method( ocellus or cuttings), a clonal sparse variety should be planted. It will serve as an intermediate( intercalary) insert between a strong root stock and a cultivated variety.

    budding

The longer the intermediate insert( usually a 15-20 cm insert is recommended), the greater the effect it has on the growth force, the nature and the rate of metabolism between the stock and the solder. As an intermediate insert, you can use such clonal stock - M8, M9, paradigm Budagovskogo, № 54-118, № 62-396, baby budagovskogo.

There are many ways of obtaining trees with an intermediate insert - double-shielding, double-grafting, double winter grafting and others. We give the method of IF.Indenko, in which in the first year a strong shoot is grafted with two eyes on one side of the shoot: a shield of a cultivar is grafted from below, a shield of an intermediate insert( intercalary) is placed above it. In the second year, sprouts grown from grafted buds are inoculated with the method of approach( ablation). For the third year, the apical portion of the intercalary( above the place of last year's vaccination) should be removed, as well as that part of the cultural variety escape that is between the stock and the site of ablation.

You can get a tree with an intermediate insert and for one year. To do this, it is necessary to make on the cuttings of the insert a budding "appliqué" with a kidney of a cultivar variety and to plant this stem on the seed rootstock by the "improved copulating" method.

On the basis of such trees, obtained by the described methods, the gardener can create a garden with 4 "floored" components. The first floor is a high-grown seed beetle, the second floor is an intermediate insertion of a clonal slab. The third floor is a skeleton from a winter-hardy variety and the fourth floor is a crown from shoots of a cultivated variety. And the last "floor" can be represented not by one sort, but several( by maturity dates of fruits). Thus, the advantages of such trees in the garden are the winter hardiness of the root system and the crown, rapidity and short stature.

    "Four-story" tree

However, the use of slightly grown rootstocks and inserts does not always provide the desired growth rate of the fruit tree. Ideally, it is desirable that the tree grows quickly at first and its volume occupies the allotted feeding area( planting scheme), and then the vegetative and generative development of plants should be balanced.

Unusual advice from .To get such trees, V.I.Demenko developed a method for creating plants with an insert that starts working 3-4 years after planting. To do this, the seedling on the seed stock on both sides is grafted using the "bridge" method with cuttings of a slightly grown rootstock( insert), after 2-3 years the bark is removed from the stem, due to which the products of the life of the tree are guided through the inserts, undergoing changes and affecting growth and fruitingfruit tree.

The effect of dwarfism or a decrease in the strength of growth can be obtained not through vaccination of different cultures, but by performing an "inverted ring" operation. For example, on a pear and a sink during an active sap move it is necessary to remove from the branch a crustal ring with a width of 13-15 mm and immediately put it on its original place, but in an inverted form. That is, thanks to such an operation, communication in the vessels of the cortex is broken and the outflow of nutrients is delayed. Therefore fruiting grows stronger on the ringed branch, and progressive growth in height decreases. Unfortunately, the operation of this operation is short-lived and therefore it must be repeated after 3-4 years.

Another surgical garden operation can be carried out to improve the winter hardiness of cherries. To do this, a strip of cortex 1 cm wide is also removed on the branches and a same strip of bark of winter hardy cherry is placed in place of it.
